Schools
UTTAR PRADESH
In 2001, a Too Young To Work (TYTW) project built a Primary and Middle School at Village Nagla Daru in District Etah, Uttar Pradesh. There was an existing school on the site but it was just a simple thatched hut with more than 180 students. This school is located in the vicinity of four semi-remote villages and has 240 children enrolled at the school. The state government has recently provided formal recognition to this school and is considering an application to fund the school.
There are eight teachers employed full time to look after the children at the school. The professional development of the teachers is important to TYTW as we recognise that skilled teachers leads to better teaching outcomes for the children. Teachers are provided opportunities to attend formal teacher training to continuously improve their skills.
The children are taught a range of subjects in accordance with the state curriculum and reflect the diversity in India, these include:
- Hindi
- English
- Sanskrit
- Maths
- Science
- Social Studies
- Drawing
Extra Curricular activities include:
- Sports
- Cultural activities
- Arts and crafts
- Physical exercise
